Fasting is a Biblical way of Humility! Several Saints have spoken about the spiritual benefits of fasting. Saint Augustine described fasting as cleansing the soul, raising the mind, and subduing the flesh. Saint Peter Chrysologus emphasized the connection between fasting, prayer, and mercy, stating that fasting is the soul of prayer and mercy is its lifeblood. He also highlighted that fasting can help make prayers more effective.
